Sam George: Take Down LGBTQ Bill Board In 24hrs
The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram together with some of the sponsors of the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill have given a 24-hour ultimatum to dismount a mounted LGBTQ+ billboard on the N1 road.
Addressing the media at the site of the mounted billboard, Sam George said their presence there was to “register in the strongest way, our displeasure, our discomfort and our abhorrent for this unholy, uncultural and untraditional advertisement that has been put on a very iconic road”.
The ultimatum went out to the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the area and the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akufo Dampare.
“We are by this calling on the Inspector General of Police, Dr Dampare Akufo to immediately, within the next 24 hours, carry out the necessary security operations to ensure that this bill board which is an affront to the 1992 constitution is taken down in conjunction with the MCE for the area”, he issued.
Failure to dismount the billboard, he said, will call for action from the general public “as enjoined by our constitution to defend our constitution”.
Eight lawmakers including Sam George, (MP, Ningo Prampram); Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini (MP Tamale North); Emmanuel Bedzrah (MP, Ho West); Della Adjoa Sowah (MP, Kpando); John Ntim Fordjour (MP, Assin South); Helen Adjoa Ntoso (MP, Krachi West); Rita Naa Odoley Sowah (MP La Dadekotopon); and, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor (MP, South Dayi) have filed a private members bill dubbed Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill.
