Sack Finance Minister Now!-Majority Mount Pressure On Akufo-Addo

A cross section of the Majority Caucus in Parliament is mounting pressure on President Akufo-Addo demanding the immediate dismissal of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.

They are also demanding the dismissal of the Minister of State in Charge of Finance, Mr Charles Adu Boahen.

Reports reaching Opemsuo News indicate that about eighty (80) members of the New Patriotic Party Members of Parliament led by the Asante-Akyem North MP, Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi, spoke at a press conference this morning, asking the President to sack the two appointees.

They have threatened to boycott the hearing of the 2023 Budget Statement and Financial Policy to be presented next month by the Finance Minister if the President fails to heed their calls.

Ken Ofori Atta and the Economic Management team have been under pressure in the last two years when the Cedi began experiencing a steep slope, resulting in a high cost of living as commodity prices shot up in an unprecedented manner.

In spite of the numerous calls, the President has kept faith in Ken Ofori Atta, turning down all requests from both minority, civil society groups and a cross section of Ghanaians.

But the majority of MPs believe it is about time the Finance Minister bow out voluntarily or is dismissed.
