The Road weeding Contractors in the Ashanti region has expressed their displeasures against the government and the Roads and Highways Minister, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Attah over unpaid salary arrears.
Speaking with the Media, one of the contractors Nana Adjei Afriyie emphasized that they were employed to weed grains on the roadsides and distilled gutters to prevent flooding and disaster by the Ghana Highways authority under the ministry of roads.
According to him, for the past three years, the Ministry has not paid their salaries but has borne no fruits after holding consultations over the matter.
He said that his outfit has petitioned the majority leader in parliament Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu but their cry to the Majority leader has fallen on deaf ears.
Nana Adjei stated that his members are facing a lot of challenges in their livelihoods due to unpaid salaries.
The contractor has made a passionate appeal to the government and the Ministry of Roads and Highways to find a lasting solution to the problems.
The contractors have given the government a one-month ultimatum to settle the debts else they are ready to form picketing at the ministries and hold a demonstration to showcase their grievances.
