Road Safety Authority Probes Safety of Toyota Voxy Vehicles

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has established a committee to probe the safety of Toyota Voxy vehicles following a spate of accidents on roads.
The Committee was inaugurated on February 12, 2026, by the Director-General, Abraham Amaliba.
Expressing his confidence in the expertise of the members, he gave them a period of one month to submit their report.
He pledged his full commitment to implementing the recommendations of the report.
“We are giving you one month within which to present your report, and we’ll give ourselves two weeks upon receipt of the report to start implementing your recommendations. We are not going to take away anything from your recommendations. You can rest assured we will be transparent. We will walk the talk. As an authority, we are not going to cover anything,” he said.
Addressing calls for an outright ban on the commercial use of the vehicle, Amaliba stated that there must be a valid justification for such a decision.
“We do not want to be seen as destroying businesses. I could have just asked my Director of Compliance to draft a notice stating that, henceforth, the commercial use of Voxy vehicles is banned. I must have a valid basis to say that, but I do not, and doing so would amount to destroying or attacking someone’s business.”
