Result Is Not Our Main Focus- David Obeng Nyarko
Asante Kotoko Brands and Communications Manager, David Obeng Nyarko, has said that results in the pre-season games are not the area of focus for the technical team, but how the coaches can conjoin individual brilliance to form a solid team for the 2021/22 season of the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors were held 1-1 draw with Liwa FC, a second division side in the United Arab Emirates in their second pre-season match.
The Ghanaian giants took the lead in the early minutes of the first half, thanks to the brilliance of Stephen Amankona. However, the UAE side came back in the second half much stronger to get the equaliser to prevent Kotoko from winning.
Speaking to the Ghanaian press in Dubai, the Communications and Brands Manager for Asante Kotoko said, “So far so good for us, if you compare today’s game to the first game, you could see there is a clear development in our play. The players are beginning to really understand the game plan and philosophy of the coach.”
He reckoned that there are many positives in the team and when they find chemistry they will surprise everyone.
“The good thing in the matches we have played so far is that we have dominated play and created chances. Our deficiency has been that, in all the games, we have not used an out-and-out striker.”
“We created thirteen goal-scoring opportunities in this game, which means that we are on the path of developing something we are all going to be proud of.
“We are happy about the outcome of the game, particularly, the performance of the players because results of these games are not the area of focus now.”
The Fabulous side will continue their pre-season training this evening in Dubai.
