Residents Of Buoho-Atrama Call On Government To Complete Abandoned Toilet Project
The Chiefs and residents of Buoho-Atrama, a farming and quarry community at Afigya Kwabere South in the Ashanti Region are fervently calling on government to resume work on an abandoned Toilet Facility project in the community.
The project which is near completion has been left for two years without any hope of continuation. Meanwhile, residents continue to defecate at an old-fashioned deplorable facility.
According to the Chief of the Community, Nana Boakye Yiadom, the project has stalled due to lack of support from the Government.
“It is worrisome how this project has been left unattended for the past two years by the Government. All that we have done to ensure the completion of the project by the Government has yielded no substantial results.”
Opemsuo.com hardworking reporter, Akua Owusuaa, who was at the scene narrated that most of the residents also defecate at open places, what is known in the local parlance as ‘free range’, in attempt to avoid the deplorable toilet facility to risk their lives.
Nana Boakye Yiadom further disclosed that he has decided to hand the project over to Northern Sector Quarry Association for the completion of the project from their fund aimed at assisting communities where they operate.
“Since we are unable to get help from the Government, I have reached an agreement with Northern Sector Quarry Association who has a fund to support communities to help us to complete the project.
“ I hope the project will be completed very soon for the usage of the facility”
