Residents Appeal to the Police for the Arrest of Sakawa Ritualist

The inhabitants of Nkurakan, a community in the Yilo Krobo district, are appealing to the Ghana Police in Nkurakan to take action following a failed Sakawa ritual involving a snake.

On a fateful Sunday morning, the tranquillity of Nkurakan was disrupted by a peculiar discovery—a sealed chop box containing a live snake. Curiosity drew a crowd of locals who were astounded by the mysterious appearance of the snake.

Speaking to the media, Dademantse Nene Obenu Wowolo, shed some light on the incident.

Wowolo stated, “My sources indicate that the snake was allegedly given to a group of young men who were participating in a money ritual orchestrated by an individual involved in such practices. The belief was that after feeding the snake eggs for 30 days, it would manifest money for the individuals involved.”

Expressing surprise at the turn of events, a resident who preferred to remain anonymous said, “It was shocking to see a snake inside a sealed chop box. We had no idea where it came from or why it was left here in our community.”

In a state of confusion and concern, the crowd gathered around the chop box, but their astonishment turned to bewilderment when a group of unidentified young men swiftly snatched the box and disappeared from the scene. The incident has left the community in shock and raised concerns about the safety and well-being of the residents.

Adding to the unease, the snake’s discovery occurred in close proximity to the area where a tragic incident involving a missing 6-month-old baby, who was later found deceased, took place just a day before.

The residents of Nkurakan are urging the Inspector General of Police to prioritise their growing security concerns and address the escalating crime issues within the community.

One resident, speaking on behalf of the community, emphasised, “We need the police to investigate this incident thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice. We want our community to be safe and secure.”

The community hopes that the Ghana Police will promptly investigate the failed Sakawa ritual, identify those responsible, and ensure that justice is served. By doing so, they aim to restore a sense of calm and safety in their beloved community.
