Report on August 6 Helicopter Crash to Be Presented to National Security Council Today

The National Security Council will today take delivery of the report on the tragic helicopter crash in August.

This was announced by the Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in a brief statement outlining various government activities.

The report, he said, will on Tuesday be made public at a media briefing.

The probe was conducted by an investigative body headed by the National Security Coordinator, with its membership drawn from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

It was assisted by a team from the US Air Force.

In addition to the expertise of the USA, the Board had the privilege to invite other relevant experts and institutions, both local and international, to assist with the investigation.

Crash
A GAF helicopter crashed on August 6, 2025, in Adansi Akrofrom in the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

It also claimed the lives of Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General, NADMO, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manden Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
