Removing Justice Gertrude Torkornoo Would Be Unfair- IMANI Boss

The founder and President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, says removing the current Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo, would be unfair to the latter.

He concedes that she had been unfair in some of her legal decisions, particularly in the decision that deprived the Guan District of a Parliamentary representative for four years.

However, he asserts that unless under very incriminating evidence, removing the head of the judiciary would be “unfair”.

“The Chief Justice has been unfair to some, including my SALL, but removing her from office for being unfair would be unfair too: Unless aggravated non-contestable evidence of wrongdoing on her part is presented,” he posted on Facebook.

It comes as President John Dramani Mahama has forwarded three petitions seeking the removal of the CJ to the Council of State for perusal and advice.

Meanwhile, at a conference in 2024, Justice Torkornoo denied wrongdoing affirming that she has upheld the law in all her decisions.
