Remittances In Support of Manhyia Projects Now Free on TapTap Send
Remittances through TapTap Send from anywhere in the diaspora in support of Corporate Social Responsibility projects of the Manhyia Palace are now without charges, the Growth Director of the digital money transfer platform, Darryl Mawutor Abraham, has announced.
He made this known to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace during a courtesy call on January 24, 2025.
His company has supported the Heal Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) project with Ghc150,000, however, this is a broader plan by the company to support all commendable and life-saving initiatives of the Occupant of the Golden Stool.
He recognized that their platform assists Ghanaians in the diaspora in investing in movable and immovable properties as well as personal projects, however, not in support of CSRs such as being taken by the King.
This is geared towards creating that opportunity.
“What I have spent most of my time on is creating a way for people who live in the diaspora to send money back home. What we haven’t done is people can support projects. They send money back to their people to build houses and invest in land.”
“Some of my team are from your Kingdom so we decided that we support some of the projects you are working on so we decided to support the Heal Komfo Anokye project. On top of that, we created a way in the app so that anyone who lives in the diaspora can directly invest in any of the projects that you are passionate about.”
The initiative is envisioned to drive more investments and funds, he said.
“We hope it generates a lot of funds for the projects you care about and help the kingdom in total. I firmly believe that most of the development that we will see in our country in the next 10 years will come from people like us who have moved away. Sending money back every month- it could be £5 or £10- and if some are going to the Kingdom for key projects then the kingdom will do good.”
TapTap Send is a mobile app that allows people to send money from the UK, EU, US, UAE, Canada and Australia to Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America at a rate.
