Recalled Coca-Cola Not For Sale in Ghana

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has announced that the recalled Coca-Cola sold in Belgium is not for sale in Ghana.

According to the Authority, no such product has been registered for sale, cleared by the country’s port or available on the Ghanaian market.

“The FDA, however, brings to the attention of the public that no such product has been registered for sale in Ghana, nor has any been officially cleared into the country through points of entry between November 2023 to date.

“Market surveillance by the FDA has also not seen any of the above-mentioned from Belgium on the market,” it said in a press statement issued on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

It noted that the only imported Coca-Cola products registered with the FDA are Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Tropico, Minute Maid, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke and Sprite Zero from Algeria, Liberia, South Africa, Tunisia, Nigeria, the UK, USA, and Canada.

Additionally, it said locally manufactured Coca-Cola products on the Ghanaian market are Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Lime-lemon and others and are produced strictly according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards before being registered by the FDA.

That notwithstanding, it is determined to continue monitoring the market with other agencies to ensure that the flagged products are not on the Ghanaian market.

Recall
Producers of Coca-Cola Belgium from 23rd November to 3rd December 2024 recalled some of its products over safety concerns.

According to the publication, the recall carried out across Europe was due to the presence of high levels of chlorate.

The affected product brands include bottled Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Tropico, Minute Maid, canned Appletiser, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke and Sprite Zero with production codes from 328 GE to 338 GE.
