Rand Refinery Partners with Gold Coast Refinery to Help Ghana Achieve International Refining Standards
Africa’s leading London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) Good Delivery accredited refiner, Rand Refinery, has entered a strategic partnership with Gold Coast Refinery (GCR) to help Ghana achieve internationally recognised assaying and refining standards.
The deal is to support the Ghana Gold Board (Goldbod) to locally refine artisanal and small-scale (ASM) gold and Elevate Responsible Sourcing Standards in West Africa.
As part of the agreement, Rand Refinery provide Technical, Operational and Commercial (TOC) supervision to GCR.
It comes after GCR entered a partnership with Goldbod to refine up to 1000 kgs of ASM gold ore per week.
Rand Refinery CEO, Dean Subramania, in a statement, called the agreement a momentous occasion as he expressed his company’s preparedness to assist Ghana.
“We are committed to working with GRC and Goldbod to implement the necessary framework to ensure that the material sourced meets international responsible sourcing requirements.”
As a recognised, LMA-accredited refinery, Rand Refinery enforces strict, audited compliance to eliminate conflict gold, combat money laundering, and ensure environmental and social responsibility (ESG) throughout its supply chain.
Rand Refinery prioritises sustainability through its People, Planet, Product and Provenance framework, aiming to ensure Africa’s gold benefits local communities while reducing environmental impact.
The partnership has been welcomed by the Goldbod.
