VIDEO: Police Service Probing Argument Of 2 Officers

The Ghana Police Service says it has begun investigations into the incident involving two police officers challenging each other over authority and a police checkpoint.

The incident reportedly happened on July 20, 2022, in the Ashanti region and according to the police, investigations began the same day.

The service described the actions of the two officers as “misconduct” and assured the general public that internal disciplinary actions are being taken to deal with it.

Background
The two police officers were captured in a viral video battling with words over the institution of a police checkpoint.

One of the arguing officers who is said to be the Foase District Police Commander, Supt Albert Quansah, was of the view that where the officers were undertaking the traffic checks was not appropriate, however, one of the officers with a Formed Police Unit (FPU) badge identified as Cpl Boakye, argued.

Supt Quansah then demanded the Cpl Boakye’s service number to which he pompously answered, “I’m with FPU. Meet me at FPU. You are not the one who brought me here”.

The Foase District Police Commander then responded, “I should meet you at FPU? I will not come there but you will get me”.
