Prime Suspect in Wapuli Kidnapping Nabbed

The police say the prime suspect in a kidnapping case at Wapuli in the Northern Region has been arrested in a significant breakthrough.
He is the fourth suspect to be nabbed following weeks of relentless surveillance, the police confirmed on Thursday.
On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the police apprehended suspect Hoyeefe Amadu from his hideout in a village about 10km from the outskirts of Watugu, a suburb of Gushegu.
In December 2025, a 42-year-old man was kidnapped by the assailants.
The victim was subjected to life-threatening cutlass wounds while the perpetrators successfully collected a ransom of GHc90,000.00 out of a demanded GHc100,000 as a condition for his release.
On December 6, 2025, the PID team successfully rescued the victim and retrieved GHc70,000.00.
They also arrested three suspects out of a syndicate of four.
The suspects have been remanded into Prison custody pending reappearance in court.
