President Mahama Addresses Nation Tonight on Social Contract

President John Dramani Mahama will address the country tonight, the Jubilee House has announced.
The address will cover his 120 days Social Contract with Ghanaians as today marks exactly 120 days since he was sworn into office as President.
A statement by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communication said the address will take place at 8:30 pm.
“President John Dramani Mahama will account to the nation on his 120-day Social Contract tonight at 8:30 pm in a live TV and radio broadcast.”
The President while in opposition outlined 26 policies in the NDC Manifesto to be achieved within the first 120 days of his assumption of office.
It will be recalled that he constituted a 19-member taskforce chaired by Dr Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs, to ensure the policies are fulfilled.
It included Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Finance Minister, John Abu Jinapor, Energy Minister, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Dr Dominic Akurutinga Ayine, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Education Minister.
The President among other things promised to nominate within the first 14 days the complete list of Cabinet Ministers for parliamentary approval; Constitute the LEANEST AND MOST EFFICIENT government under the fourth republic in my first 90 days in office; Establish a robust CODE OF CONDUCT AND STANDARDS for all government officials; and Hold a National Economic Dialogue to discuss the true state of the economy and prepare a homegrown fiscal consolidation programme to guide the budget.
He also promised to scrap the E-levy, COVID levy, 10% levy on bet winnings, and Emissions levy; review taxes and levies on vehicles and equipment imported into the country for industrial and agricultural purposes; Commence drafting needed legal amendments and prepare for implementing the 24-Hour Economy Policy under the Office of the President; and Establish an Accelerated Export Development Council (AEDC).
He further vowed to Convene a national consultative conference on EDUCATION; Implement the ‘No-Academic-Fee’ policy for all first-year students in public tertiary institutions; Introduce Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities, the Ghana Medical Care Trust (MahamaCares) Fund; Commence the distribution of free sanitary pads to female students in primary and secondary schools; and others.
