KNUST VC Salutes Lady Julia For Conceiving Mentorship Masterclass Idea

The Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof Rita Akosua Dickson, has saluted the brain behind the classic Mentorship Masterclass initiative instituted by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF).

The initiative held annually by Lady Julia Osei Tutu this year was under the theme “Accelerate Action: Together we can forge women’s equality” at the KNUST on March 7, 2025.

The programme which brings on board accomplished women from all sectors seeks to equip the next generation of women leaders through education, mentorship, social responsibility, leadership and career development.

In the opening remarks, Prof Dickson indicated that it was a platform to give direction to young girls and make them aware of their potential.

She furthered that it provided the opportunity for girls to dream as they cannot “become what you cannot dream”.

“Mom {Lady Julia} thank you for this opportunity where we can speak to these young ladies and let them understand that they have the potentials and they are able and capable and nothing must stop them…And as I said, we salute you our mother for this wonderful initiative.”

Trying to simplify gender equality, she described God as an economist.

“God is an economist. Yes, he is an economical God. He wouldn’t place two people on this planet and expect that it’s only one group that must get the job done. He put all of us here for a reason. You have two hands, why will you tie one behind you and say that you are just going to use one? Why?”

Gracing the event was the wife of the Asantehene, Lady Julia, Board Chairman of the OOTIIF, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakoma Difie II and Ejisuhemaa, Nana Yaa Asantewaa II.

Also present were Nana Afrakoma Serwaa Kusi Oboadom, Agogohemaa, Nana Agyeiwaa Paamu, Tepahemaa, Nana Darkowaa Ampem Kyerewaa II and Nana Afia Afriyie Owoaberempong, Fankyenebrahemaa.
