Power Outage Hits Sogakope After Transmission Line Damage

The residents of Sogakope and its environs have been plunged into darkness after a transmission line was damaged.
According to the Ghana Grid Company Limited, the damage occurred around 4 pm on Sunday.
“The Ghana Grid Company LTD (GRIDCo) wishes to inform residents in and around Sogakope that at 16:01HRS on Sunday, 26th October 2025, the transmission line that supplies Sogakope suffered damage, causing an outage to Sogakope and surrounding communities.”
It noted that a team has since been deployed to repair the damage and restore.
“GRIDCo sincerely apologises to all affected residents for the inconvenience caused by this incident.”
GRIDCo was incorporated in December 2006 to carry out the economic dispatching and transmission of electricity from facilities of wholesale suppliers (Independent Power Producers IIPPs]) to bulk customers and distribution utilities in Ghana and West Africa.
The Company became operational on August 1, 2008, following the transfer of the Transmission System Department and its core staff from VRA to GRIDCo.
It operates the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS).
GRIDCo currently transmits electricity to 33 Bulk Customers and Distribution Utilities from 11 Wholesale Suppliers.
