Post-election Appointment Revocation: Nana B To Sue Govt

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, known as Nana B is buckling his boots to challenge President John Dramani Mahama’s revocation of all post-election appointments and recruitments into the Public Service.

In a Facebook post, he vowed to defend the affected youth whom he said followed “due process of law” to secure their appointments.

“Notice is hereby served, that I shall head to the Court to defend these young people and remind the President that his oath was to defend the Constitution and not to abuse it. My Lawyers, Nana Baffour Awuah Esq and Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei Esq., should stand ready to defend the Constitution,” he noted.

It is his case that the move by the current government has no legal backing.

“Has the President so soon forgotten that he also swore to submit himself to the laws of Ghana? The President should know that there is no legal ground for terminating any appointment known as ‘good governance practices and principles’.”

Revocation
A circular signed by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah to heads of government institutions dated February 10, 2025, ordered the annulment of all appointments and recruitments into the public service made under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration after December 7, 2024.

According to him, these appointments did not follow “established good governance practices and principles”.

He has thus directed Heads of government institutions to submit a comprehensive report on the actions taken after the annulment by 17 February 2025.
