Pooley Killing: All Culpable Persons Irrespective of Status Will Be Punished- Sports Minister

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has given assurances that social status will not immunize anyone found to have played a role in the murder of a Kotoko fan at Nsoatre almost two weeks ago.
During a visit to the Porcupines on Friday, February 14, 2025, he said the hammer of justice will fall on all persons involved in the heinous act.
“Together with my Ministry I will be following to make sure whoever is found to have played a role, no matter his status, we will see to it that he is punished to deter others.”
He used the occasion to condemn the act.
“Under normal circumstances, sports should unite and not result in this kind of situation. If you are quick-tempered, abstain from sports for those who have the heart to take it and do it.”
He reiterated his commitment to rendering reforms in the country’s sports, particularly football.
“We don’t have to just condemn the act. We will follow closely and be taking briefs from the IGP who has also shown much interest in the case…It’s unfortunate that our brother lost his life but this has called attention to needed reforms in our football and sports…We have received the joint letter from Asante Kotoko and Hearts. I have read the document and acknowledge it will be in our interest to do it.”
This was welcomed by the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua.
“I am assured by your statement that justice will be secured. How he has followed keenly is so encouraging.”
Ardent Asante Kotoko fan, Frimpong Yaw Francis, popularly known as Nana Pooley, was stabbed to death following the 1-0 defeat to Nsoatreman FC.
This followed a melee that marred the game at Nana Koramansah Park at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on February 2, 2025.
Seven persons have since been arrested in connection with the act including former Employment Minister Ignatius Baffour-Awuah.
