Polling Agent Grabbed For Voting Twice
A polling agent stationed at the Wassa Akropong-Appiahkrom polling station A in the Western Region has been arrested.
According to the police, the agent identified as, Kwofie Stephen, was arrested for double voting.
“The Ghana Police Service has arrested a polling station agent for double voting at the Wassa Akropong-Appiahkrom polling station A in the Western Region in the ongoing general elections,” it said in a press statement.
He is in police custody assisting in the investigation.
Ghanaians are today choosing a new President as well as Parliamentary candidates. The election will see 18,774,159 registered voters voting in 40,648 polling stations in 276 Constituencies.
Twelve Presidential candidates are scrambling for power. They are Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, an Independent Candidate, Christian Kwabena Andrews of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Daniel Augustus Lartey Jnr of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) and George Twum-Barima-Adu, an Independent Candidate.
The rest are Nana Kwame Bediako, an Independent Candidate, Hassan Abdulai Ayariga of the All People’s Congress (APC), Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mohammed Frimpong of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Akosua Frimpomaa of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and Kofi Koranteng, an Independent Candidate.
