Policewoman Shoots Taxi Driver to Death
A policewoman has shot dead a Taxi driver around the Tetegu area near Weija in the Greater Accra Region.
The officer is reported to have discharged her arms during a confrontation with the driver on January 19, 2026.
The driver, who was operating a Hyundai i10 taxi was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the policewoman was run down by a car in an attempt to flee the scene, leaving her severely injured.
In a press statement, the Ghana Police Service said an investigation has commenced into both incidents.
“Exhibits recovered from the incident scene include one live 9mm round, a magazine, and one empty 9mm cartridge.”
It further confirmed that the officer in question is currently on admission, receiving medical attention.
