Police Service Hails Officer Who Won Gold at World Armwrestling Championship
The Management of the Ghana Police Service has hailed their female officer who won Ghana’s first global Armwrestling gold medal in the Women’s 80kg left arm contest at the 2024 World Armwrestling Championship in Moldova.
Policewoman (PW) Inspector Grace Minta triumphed over competitors from Sweden, Ukraine, Germany, and Turkey to claim the title and make history.
In a statement, the Service proudly celebrated her for the achievement.
“PW Inspector Grace Minta, the Ghana Police Service is immensely proud of you for raising the flags of Ghana and the Police Service high on the world stage. We wish you continued strength and success in your future endeavours. Ayekoo!”
Before becoming a world champion, PW Inspector Grace Minta had been a dominant force in African armwrestling since 2019, winning the African Championships twice consecutively. She also secured a double gold at the 2023 African Games.
Inspector Grace Minta embarked on her career in policing in 2007 upon graduating from the Regional Police Training School in Kumasi. She has served in various capacities, including at the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters in Koforidua and the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) at the Korle Bu District Police Command.
Currently stationed at the James Town Police Station under the Accra Regional Police Command, PW Inspector Grace Minta is dedicated to protecting lives and property. She performs general Police duties while also being an active member of the Sports Unit of the Service.
