Police Recover 21 Stolen Mobile Phones, Arrest 4 Suspects

The police have recovered 21 stolen mobile phones after arresting four suspects during a “stop-and-search” operation along the Kasoa-Ofaakor-Bawjiase-Swedru Road on Monday.
The vehicle of the suspects- a Toyota Hiace “fish” vehicle with registration number GB 6246-22- was intercepted during the operation by the Kasoa Divisional Police patrol around 3 am.
“Upon a thorough search of the vehicle, Police discovered twenty-one (21) assorted mobile phones believed to have been stolen by the suspects,” the statement reported.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects embarked on a mobile phone “stealing spree” on April 6 at Agona Swedru during the Easter celebration and in the process, succeeded in stealing 21 mobile phones of various brands from revellers yet to be identified.
The suspects, identified as Anthony Fiave, aged 25, Bright Owusu, aged 30, Kwaku Appiah, aged 38, and John Addai, aged 39, are currently in Police custody, assisting with further investigations for onward prosecution. Meanwhile, the mobile phones have been retained as exhibits.
The police directed individuals who may have fallen victim to the activities of these suspects to visit the Kasoa Divisional Police Command for identification and collection of their mobile phones.
The Command commended personnel for their efforts, encouraging them to continue ensuring the public can enjoy crime-free activities during and after the festive season.
“The Central East Regional Police Command wishes to assure the public that it is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the arrest and prosecution of any person(s) who commits such crime within the region.”
