Police Investigate Alleged Assault of NPP Executive By NDC Executive at Akwatia

The Ghana Police Service says it is investigating the alleged assault claims by the 3rd National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Osman Masawudu.
A statement by the Service said the complaint was filed at the Akwatia District Police Command; however, the case has been referred to the Eastern South Regional Police Command for further investigations.
“The complainant was issued with a Police Medical form to attend hospital for treatment, endorsement and return the same to the Police for further investigations,” the statement noted.
During the Akwatia by-election on September 2, the 1st National Vice Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Sofo Azorka, was captured on camera alongside his men attempting to physically assault the 3rd National Vice Chairman of the NPP.
Azorka was captured in another video threatening the lives of the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin; the National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye; and Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh.
The threats were repeated by the Abuakwa North Constituency Communication Officer, Alhaji Abdul Wahab Amadu.
In an earlier statement, the NPP demanded the arrest of Azorka and Amadu.
