Police Insist Salifu Amoako’s Son is at the Correctional Centre

The Ghana Police Service has insisted that the teenage son of Rev Elisha Salifu Amoako at the centre of the fatal East Legon accident is at the Osu Correctional Centre.

According to a statement issued by the police on November 5, 2024, the boy has been at the centre since his remand last week.

“Following the Court’s order on 1st November 2024, suspect Elrad Salifu Amoako, was taken to the Osu Correctional Centre, where he remains as of this morning.”

Alleged Absence
This comes after a Facebook account with the name EmpressPapa A-Amigos, claiming to be a worker at the Boys Remand Home for over 30 years asserted that the boy never made it to the centre in the first place.

“For now it is supposed to be the Boys Remand Home where he should be kept by law. When I worked there we kept children on Murder charges and I handled them. So which Remand Home is Salifu’s son because the doors of the Remand Home were opened when I checked today. No boy has been received.”

False News
The police in their statement affirmed that the communication is false and have initiated processes to get the persons behind this and one other account on TikTok with the name prisywanlov1.

“We, therefore, wish to state that this claim is false and constitutes the offence of Publication of false news, contrary to section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).”

According to the police, these persons are preying on the situation for attention.

“We find it deeply unfortunate that a tragic incident resulting in the loss of two beautiful souls is being exploited by some individuals in an unGhanaian manner to draw attention to themselves.”
