Police Arrest Abronye
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye.
His arrest was effected on September 9, 2025.
In a statement, the police said he was under investigation for alleged Offensive conduct.
“The Ghana Police Service has today 08/09/25 arrested Mr. Kwame Baffoe @ Abronye for Offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace. He is currently in custody and will be put before a Court.”
The issue surrounding his arrest is unclear, however, it comes after he wrote to Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany, seeking political asylum.
He cited “consistent, escalating political persecution, threats to my life, and systemic abuse of state security powers by the current Government of Ghana” as basis for the request.
