Three suspects are in police custody for allegedly kidnapping a 42-year-old man in Wapuli, a community in the Yendi District.

They were arrested by the Northern Regional Police Command, through an intelligence-led operation at Bokpaba, a village along the Bimbilla —Yendi stretch of the Eastern Corridor.

The suspects have been identified as Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi.

The suspects are said to be among four kidnappers who demanded a ransom of GHc100,000 from the victim’s family as a condition for his release.

“Upon receipt of the information, Police dispatched a team of five officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) to Wapuli on a surveillance, rescue and arrest assignment.”

The police successfully rescued the victim on December 5 and arrested the suspects after an intensive gunfight exchange, according to a police statement.

The suspects are currently in Police custody and will be arraigned before the court. Meanwhile, the fourth suspect is believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, and the Police are urging the public to assist with relevant information that would lead to his arrest.
