PNC To Sue NDC Over Alleged Assault Against Their General Secretary
The People’s National Convention (PNC) says it is lacing its boots for court action against the largest opposition party- National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This follows claims that some members of the NDC assaulted the PNC General Secretary, Janet Nabla.
An image posted on social media showed the General secretary lying on what appeared to be a hospital bed with two medical officers by her.
The party says the incident has been reported to the police.
According to the PNC, Janet got assaulted by some members of the NDC when she represented the party together with other PNC officials at the National Congress of the NDC which took place over the weekend.
“Their reason was that, Madam Janet Nabla has not been joining in their demonstrations and also she has been insulting their party”, the PNC said.
“The NDC Congress officials told the General Secretary that they have appointed people from the PNC who have been supporting them in their demonstration to solidarize with them. The PNC is not an annexe of the NDC and so they can not bring their supporters to pose as PNC members in their Congress to do their bidding for them”, it stated.
It added that the incident was reported to the Ghana Police at the Ministry’s Police station with the Secretary taken to a hospital for medical attention.
The PNC described as “shameful” the alleged attack which it said was carried out “at the full glare of some NDC party officials who posed unconcerned” and noted that a suit was in the offing.
In addition to the suit, it plans to boycott all programmes of the NDC.
The NDC is yet to react to the news.
