Planting For Food And Jobs Policy Has Helped A Lot- Atwima Mponua DCE
The District Chief Executive Officer for Atwima Mponua Hon Isaac Kofi Marfo has made it clear that, the government’s policy, the planting for food and jobs has helped a lot.
On the 38th Farmers Day, Atwima Mponua District celebrated their own at Antwi-Agyeikrom and 14 people received awards.
In his speech, Hon Isaac Kofi Marfo said if Ghanaians will be just in 2015, there were a shortage of foodstuffs and food was very expensive in the country.
However, the planting for food and jobs policy has helped the country by supplying a lot of food.
He mentioned plantain, Cocoyam, Cassava, coconut, cocoa, tomatoes, carrots, cabbage, vegetables and kinds of fruits, watermelon, oranges, potatoes etc.
He added that the government has strong policies for farmers and has developed Rehabilitation to assist them in producing food and making money.
Once more, farmers deserved to enjoy their golden years, so the government brought them Tier 3 pension pay to support them in retirement.
Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, the MP for the Atwima Mponua Constituency, was praised by Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo for his excellent work.
He said, Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah has tried and lobbied for agenda 111, Nursing Training, roads, lighting systems, water and as well as security to the constituency.
In his part, the Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua Constituency Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah, applauded the good work the farmers have done to harvest more foodstuffs in the district.
He assured the farmers that the NPP government has good plans for them and their future.
Hon Asiamah advised all farmers who had decided to clear their cocoa trees and convert them to galamsey areas to reconsider their decision.
He claimed that galamsey destroyed farms, lands, and forests, but cocoa crops survived for a very long time and could be produced for many years.
Because all of the projects were completed by him when he was a member of parliament and the other ones are in the process, Hon. Isaac Asiamah vowed to keep his word and fulfil his commitment to developing the Atwima Mponua constituency.
Mr Prince Asare, the district’s agricultural director, claimed that the area has made serious efforts to develop the agricultural sector, which will increase the supply of food.
Mr Prince Asare stated clearly that, “we are fully secured that our foodstuffs will not spoil, we deserve to be honoured because they planted rice, maize, yam, and some livestock”.
