{Pictures} Wassa Amanten Galamsey Sites Raid Leads to Arrest of 27

Intelligence-led raids at multiple illegal mining sites have led to the arrest of 27 individuals at Wassa Amanten by the police.

A statement by the police on June 27 said, “The Western Regional Police Command has conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting multiple illegal mining sites in close proximity and arrested twenty-seven (27) at Wassa Amanten.”

Alongside the arrest, one tricycle, one unregistered Boxer motorbike and several water-pumping machines were seized.

The team of police officers also burnt a changfan machine at the scene.

“All the suspects are currently in police custody assisting the investigation, while seized exhibits have been retained.”
