Pictures: President Akufo-Addo Commissions Library Named After His Father
The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has commissioned the Edward Akufo-Addo public library situated at Frafraha in the Adentan Municipality.
The library is said to be stocked with more than 30,000 books.
The decision to name the Library after the father of President Akufo-Addo was solely taken by the Board of the Ghana Library Authority, the president pointed out during the commissioning ceremony.
He added that decision was in recognition of the contribution of his late father while he headed the GLA Board as the first Ghanaian.
“Before I am predictably accused by my political opponents of seeking the unwarranted glorification of my father it must be put on record that this decision was taken solely by the governing board without any input or knowledge by President Nana Akufo-Addo”, he stated.
He added, “I thank the Chairperson, members of the governing board and management of the Ghana Authority for recognizing the contribution of my late father, the President of the Second Republic and the third Ghanaian Chief Justice of our history, to the development of public services library in Ghana and for naming this library after him,”
