Pictures: Otumfuo, Wife grab Voters’ ID Cards
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu have registered for their Voters’ Identification Cards to enable them partake in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
The revered King and his better half, today Monday, August 3, 2020, had their names on the voters’ register at a registration centre in Manhyia South Constituency in Kumasi
Accompanied by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and his grandson, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah and other dignitaries from Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), the process took about twenty (20) minutes to complete.
Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Benjamin Bannor Bio led officials from the Commission to register the King and his wife.
According to our sources, both the registrants used passport as proof of identities as required by the electoral law of Ghana.
Officials of the Commission later went to the official residence of the Asantehemaa, Her Majesty Nana Konadu Yiadom III, and registered her.
In a linked development, Chief of Staff for Manhyia Palace, Mr. Kofi Badu also used the golden opportunity to register his name.
The Electoral Commission(EC) of Ghana as part of its schedules prior to the organization of the 2020 general elections in December opened registration of eligible voters on 30th June, 2020.
