Parliament to Vet Nominated Chief Justice Baffoe Bonnie

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will today vet Justice Paul Baffoe Bonnie, Chief Justice nominee.
It will take place at Parliament House in Accra at 11:00 am.
In a statement by the Director of Media Relations of Parliament, it was emphasised that the event is strictly by invitation.
“We appreciate your interest in the proceedings and therefore advised you to follow it live on GH Parliament TV and our social media platforms.”
The exercise will carry on after Speaker Alban Bagbin dismissed a motion by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, seeking to defer the vetting process until the pending court cases challenging the dismissal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo were resolved.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama following the dismissal of Justice Gertrude Torkornoo on grounds of misbehaviour in accordance with recommendations of an ad hoc investigative committee.
