Parliament to Convene at AICC

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has designated the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre as the venue for their assembly following their recall for urgent government business.

This was contained a notice issued by the Office of the Speaker on August 27, 2024.

“Pursuant to the notice to summon Parliament dated 7th August 2024, I Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament hereby appoints the Dome, Accra International Conference Centre as the place of the meeting.”

It may be recalled that a notice issued at the instance of the Speaker earlier this month directed members of the House to show up for government business on September 3, 2024.

Renovation
The relocation of Parliamentary businesses comes on the back of comprehensive renovation works currently underway in the Parliamentary chamber.

The work which includes plans to fix malfunctioning audiovisual systems, install biometric gadgets and transform the House into an E-parliament began after the house went on recess on July 30.

The work is being done at a cost of some €2.26 million and is estimated to be completed by the end of October.
