Parliament Appoints New Clerk
Effective January 1, 2025, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror will replace Mr Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah as the Clerk to Parliament.
He was appointed by the Parliamentary Service Board in November during an extraordinary meeting during which the three deputy clerks were interviewed for the position of Clerk to Parliament.
This means he will conduct the swearing-in of MPs for the ninth Parliament on January 6.
It comes as Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah prepares to retire on February 2, 2025, at the compulsory retirement age of sixty (60) years.
Meanwhile, Mr Oteng Nsiah is due for his annual leave on the December 31, 2024, which leave has been approved.
Reports indicate the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Sumana Bagbin has already issued an appointment letter for the new clerk to assume duty as the new clerk on January 1.
Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror prior to his new appointment was the Deputy Clerk of Parliament in charge of Corporate and Financial Management Services.
He is a former acting Deputy Clerk for Legislative Management Services and former Principal Assistant Clerk.
He has also served as the Head of the Table Office and clerk to various committees of Parliament, including the committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, the Business Committee, the Committee on Judiciary and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of Parliament.
