Paga Alarmed By Suspicious Aircraft Activity

A group calling itself Paga Youth Movement has raised concerns of what it calls “suspicious” activities of an aircraft bearing tail number 60171 in Paga.
According to the youth, the unannounced landing of the aircraft in the area was observed for three consecutive times between 28th and 31st December 2025.
It reported that the aircraft consistently landed at the Paga airstrip but avoided scrutiny.
On its last appearance, the group said, district-level security agencies including the Ghana Police Service, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), National Security, and other allied agencies successfully prevented the aircraft from taking off.
It said the occupants of the aircraft refused to disembark or engage the security agencies with an order from the Regional Police High Command subsequently paving the way for the aircraft’s departure.
The youth group finds it suspicious among other things that District security agencies, the District Chief Executive (DCE), the Regional Minister and the Ghana Civil Aviation were not pre-informed of the aircraft’s presence and activities.
They therefore demanded:
1. A full public explanation from the Regional Police Commander detailing what he knows about the aircraft and the basis upon which he ordered its release.
2. A clear statement from National Security to clarify their role, if any, as their name has been cited in justifying the aircraft’s activities.
3. An official briefing from the Ghana Armed Forces, Aviation Authorities, and Interior Ministry on the identity, mission, cargo, flight clearance, and destination of the aircraft.
4. Immediate measures to ensure that no aircraft—civilian or military—lands or operates in Paga without the knowledge and involvement of district and regional security authorities.
5. Assurance to the people of Paga that our territorial integrity, safety, and sovereignty are not being compromised under the guise of “national security.”
