Outright Destoolment Is Penalty For Engaging Land Guards- Asantehene

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has issued a strong warning that he will remove any chief who employs land guards in land disputes.
Otumfuo reminded them that he gave them authority to rule and is capable of taking away that authority and giving it to another.
His Majesty said this while unequivocally condemning the bloodshed that characterises land guard activities.
“I will not condone any form of violence in any part of my realm. Know that you will be destooled when I become privy to land guard activities in your jurisdictions.”
This is the umpteenth time Otumfuo has registered his discontent with the use of land guards.
The Ashanti Regional Security Council, in a press statement dated June 20, 2024, expressed concerns about a surge in the illegal operations of land guards in the region.
The Council acknowledged the time-tested modalities in the Region that have kept it devoid of land guards over the years and urged persons with land disputes to use the accepted channels.
“Over the years, the Ashanti Region has been fortunate because all stool lands are vested in His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, with his chiefs as caretakers. There is therefore every opportunity in instances of land controversies and disputes to appeal to His Majesty for the resolution of the disputes.”
