Our Hearts Go Out To His Parents- Mahama On Deceased NSMQ Star

Former President John Dramani Mahama has joined the tall list of Ghanaians paying tribute to demised Keta Senior High School (SHS) 2021 National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ) contestant, James Lutterodt.

He penned a tribute mourning with family, friends and schoolmates of James in a Facebook post.

James is reported to have passed away in the early hours of Monday, July 3, 2023, after an illness.

His father, in an interview with Citi News,  belied reports that his son was poisoned to death as reported by a section of the media and noted he only experienced breathing difficulties.

He told the news outlet he noticed his son’s ailment when he returned home on a school vacation in April and sought to determine what was wrong with him at various medical facilities.

In a tribute, Mr Mahama said, “Sad to hear about the death of James Lutterodt, a former student of Keta SHS. We all fondly recall the sterling performance of James and his colleagues in the NSMQ in 2021. Even though they did not win the ultimate prize, it was such a joy to watch the trio from Ketasco.”

He continued, “Our hearts go out to his parents, family, friends, and schoolmates. You are not alone during this difficult time. James will always hold a special place in our hearts. His passing at such a young age is truly heartbreaking.”
