Otumfuo@25: Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Akwaboah Perform at Get-together
At the 25th Enstoolment Anniversary after-party at the Manhyia Palace on Friday, the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his guests were treated to some entertaining performances from renowned artistes in the country.
The irresistible performances of the Manhyia Palace Band, Ben Brako, Daughters of Glorious Jesus and Akwaboah dragged the traditional authorities and the guests off their seats to the core front to showcase their dance moves.
The guests also feasted on some local delicacies as they enjoyed the musical atmosphere.
It was part of activities slated to mark the enstoolment anniversary of the King which is exactly 25 years today.
Present at the strictly-by-invitation event at the residence of the Asantehene were Lady Julia, his wife, Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu-Bio, the Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya North, traditional authorities, clergymen and others.
The King undertook a symbolic cake-cutting at the event with the help of his wife and selected people present.
The get-together preceded a non-denominational thanksgiving service at the Dwabrem grounds of the Palace where payers were offered as well as worship, praises, a sermon, musical performances by renowned gospel artistes and a speech by the King.
Clergymen who participated included Most Rev Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana; Most Rev Peter Kwesi Sarpong, Catholic Archbishop Emeritus; Most Rev Gabriel Justice Anokye, Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi; and Most Rev Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith, Anglican Bishop of Asante Mampong and Archbishop of Ghana and the Church of the Province of West Africa.
Also present were Most Rev Prof Daniel Sarfo, Anglican Archbishop Emeritus; Most Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante, Past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana; Rev Dr Seth Frimpong Coleman, AE Zion Church; Rev Samuel Yeboah, Ashanti Presbytery Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana; RT Rev Stephen Owusu, Kumasi Diocese Archbishop; and RT Rev Nu-Ben Abubeker, Past Kumasi Diocesan Methodist Bishop.
Denominations that were present included the Church of Pentecost, Power Chapel Worldwide, Anglican Church, Faith Convention, Methodist Church Ghana, Deeper Life Bible Church, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Christ Apostolic Church International, Seventh Day Adventist, Spirit Life Community, International Central Gospel Church, Assemblies of God Ghana, Church of Christ Spiritual Movement, Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries, and Embassy of Life Chapel.
