Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge, Bantama & Bohyen Get Representatives After Fiercest Competition
Hundreds of school children turned out for Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Community Reading Challenge at Bantama and Bohyen on Friday and Saturday respectively.
The competition which aims at developing the interest of both the lingua franca (English Language) and our native Twi language begun on a good note in two communities in Kumasi.
Otumfuo Foundation’s resolve to initiate this unique project arise from the fact that children are able to perform phenomenally when they are able to comprehend text in their own language.
Again, when you read, you exercise your comprehension abilities and your analytical abilities. It fires up your imagination and stimulates the memory centers of your mind. It helps recall information as well as stabilize your emotions. The importance of a reading habit is that it strengthens mental muscles.
The preliminary round of the competition commenced at Bantama on Friday, March 19, 2021, with One hundred and seventeen (117) children. After the fiercest competition, Rachel Serwaa emerged as a winner to represent Bantama at Manhyia for the final phase.
Children in Bohyen had their share of the competition on Saturday, March 20, 2021, with Fifty-eight (58) children bossing themselves up for the first spot.
Blessing Ataa Agyem emerged as the champion to represent her community at Manhyia.
With Fifty eight (58) communities remaining, the next competition will take place at Abrepo on 26th March, 2021 and Ohwim 27th March, 2021.
