Otumfuo 25th Anniversary to Feature STEM Competition
The Planning Committee of the 25th Anniversary of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has announced a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) competition as part of programmes to commemorate the anniversary.
The Chairman of the Committee, Juabenhene Daasebre Otuo Serebuo, on March 11, 2024, said an element of education has been included in the events to project the King’s interest in advocating for intensified STEM education.
The competition under the auspices of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF) will be organized in partnership with the Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.
Dubbed Otumfuo STEM Festival, the competition will be launched on April 15, he said.
“The competition will focus on health, agriculture, sanitation, education and finance. Students will be required to develop machinery in these areas.”
Just like the National Science and Maths Quiz (NMSQ), this competition will be a national one aimed at developing the interest of students in STEM and nurturing them for the survival and development of the country in the face of the dynamic world.
The finals of the competition will be held on September 13.
The Juabenhene also announced that the competition will, after this year, be an annual national festival.
His Majesty the King will this year be 25 years on the Golden Stool. It will be 25 years of unparalleled and distinguished leadership.
A lot of events have been booked to mark the Silver Jubilee including a Thanksgiving service, a series of durbars, firework activities and dinners.
