Otto Addo Hands Late Call-Up to Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer After Iñaki Williams and Thomas-Asante’s Withdrawals

Ghana coach Otto Addo has summoned Hamburger SV forward Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer as a late replacement for the Black Stars’ pre-World Cup friendlies against Austria and Germany.

The 22-year-old has been called up following the withdrawal of Iñaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante, who both picked up knocks during their recent league matches.

Brandon Thomas-Asante featured for Coventry City and was on the scoresheet in their 3-0 victory over Swansea City but was substituted in the 62nd minute after sustaining an injury.

Iñaki Williams, on the other hand, played the full duration of Athletic Bilbao’s win against Real Betis, only for scans to later reveal he had suffered a knock that ruled him out of the trip to Vienna.

Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer has already arrived in camp in Vienna and is expected to link up with the squad for today’s training.

The young forward has been in impressive form for Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga this season, scoring four goals in 26 appearances.

Ghana will face Austria on Friday, March 27 at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna before taking on Germany on Monday, March 30 in Stuttgart.

The two friendlies form part of the Black Stars’ preparations towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June.
