OSP Discovers Fake US$ 4 Million In Accra And Tema
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has busted the activities of a counterfeit money-producing syndicate, leading to the discovery of US$4,000,000.
It is unknown when the discovery by the Office happened, but it gave the Greater Accra Region as a location in its second half of 2023 report.
The report published on its website said the money had been concealed in steel trunks in Accra and Tema.
“The Office has disrupted a syndicate involved in the production of counterfeit foreign currency. Seizures were effected in two (2) warehouses located in Accra and Tema, where a substantial counterfeit amount of Forty Million United States dollars (US$40,000,000.00) was discovered concealed in steel trunks.”
It added that the case has been “partially” referred to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation. It is uncertain whether arrests were made in that regard, as the report was economical with information.
The OSP on Wednesday, January 17, published its half-year report on its activities in accordance with the Constitution.
