Osei Assibey Goes To National Service
Former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Boss, Hon. Simon Osei Assibey Antwi, has been appointed as the acting National Service Scheme Executive Director by President Akufo-Addo.
His appointment came two days before the Minister of Local Government Decentralization and Rural Development, Hon. Dan Botwe, announced the President’s nominees for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
According to a statement from the Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Osei Frema-Opare, Hon. Osei Assibey is to act in that capacity “pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the scheme, given in consultation with the Public Service Commission.”
Hon. Assibey is required to indicate his acceptance or otherwise within 14 days.
He was nominated by President Akufo-Addo to serve as Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) on 13 March 2017, replacing Kojo Bonsu who had resigned in July 2016. He was confirmed on 17 March 2017 and sworn in by the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah on 17 April 2017.
