Order Restored After Clashes At Ofankor
The police have reported calm following a lethal confrontation between two factions at Ofankor in the Greater Accra region.
Though the police did not specify the factions in the clash, reports indicate that the violence ignited between some landguards and wood sellers in the area.
“The Police have restored law, order and security at Ofankor following a riot which resulted in the burning of tyres and blocking of public road.”
According to the police, the confrontation stemmed from land litigation.
Updating the public about the development, the police said, “Investigation so far indicates that the riot was in relation to a land litigation issue. Police have since strengthened security in the area and the road has been opened to normal traffic flow.”
It indicated that an arrest is yet to be effected.
“Investigation continues to get the perpetrators arrested to face justice.”
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports indicate that one person died in the clash with several others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
