Opemsuo Radio Is 6 Years Old Today

Opemsuo Radio, a subsidiary of Ashanti Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), is today celebrating six years since it first hit the airwaves in May 2020.

The anniversary coincides with the 76th birthday of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, adding further significance to the day for both the station and Asanteman.

Launched as the official radio station of the Manhyia Palace, the station was established to serve as a cultural and informational bridge between the Palace and the people of Asanteman and beyond.

It plays a key role in disseminating official communications from the Asantehene’s palace and supporting national campaigns, including health and civic education initiatives.

Over the past six years, Opemsuo Radio has become a trusted platform for promoting Asante heritage, language, and values, while also delivering news, education, and community engagement.

Its coverage of The Asantehene’s activities and Asante cultural events has made it a trusted source for audiences both in Ghana and among the diaspora.

Beyond FM broadcasting on 104.7 MHz in Kumasi, Opemsuo Radio has expanded its reach through online streaming and social media, allowing listeners across Ghana and beyond to stay connected to Asante tradition and current affairs.

The station has also provided a platform for youth engagement and community problem-solving.

Listeners and traditional leaders have poured in congratulatory messages, commending the station for maintaining high standards of professionalism while preserving cultural identity.

As Opemsuo Radio enters its seventh year, management has reiterated its commitment to expanding programming, enhancing digital content, and deepening its role as a bridge between tradition and modern society.
