Okyereko Bridge will be Repaired Soon – Highway Authority
The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has announced that repairs to the damaged Okyereko bridge over the Ayensu River on the Kasoa-Winneba highway will commence as soon as practicable.
The bridge, currently flooded by last night’s heavy rains, has been destroyed, disrupting traffic flow on the road.
“The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), acting on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways (MRH), is alerting the general public and motorists that the Okyereko Bridge over the River Ayensu in the Gomoa East district of the Central Region is currently overtopped due to the continuous heavy downpour and rising water levels,” it said in a statement.
Motorists travelling from Accra to Cape Coast in the interim have been advised to use the Akoti-Ojobi-Winneba Road, while those travelling from Cape Coast to Accra are to use the Winneba -Ojobi – Aloti Junction on the N1.
“We understand the inconvenience this has caused and assure you that, our engineers and technical teams will work diligently to address the situation as quickly as practicable.
“Your cooperation and patience are greatly cherished as we work towards ensuring your safety and the restoration of normal traffic flow,” it urged.
