Oheneyere Abena Konadu Urges Parents to Support Their Children

Oheneyere Abena Konadu Acheampong, the wife of Barima Acheampong Sarpong, Asamanhene, has urged parents to rise and assume their full responsibilities in the education of their children.

She was speaking to Opemsuo News on the sidelines of a three-day youth conference dubbed “History Makers’ Conference” organized by the Asamanhene from Tuesday, August 6, to Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Nana Abena Konadu Acheampong said it was important to hold such life-changing “conferences to help young students in the community identify their purpose and work towards it”. Their basic objective, she said, is to raise quality, skilled, and able human resources to effect positive changes and help develop the Asaman community.

“Purpose discovery is very important because it enables you to know who you are, where you are coming from, and where you are going, so we are trying to help our children identify themselves,” she said.

She, however, said parents have a role in the development of their children and hence called on them to assume their full responsibilities in shaping their children. She noted that children spend most of their time at home, and therefore, parents must demonstrate to their children that they care about them.

“Parents have a role to play in what we are doing. They spend most of their time at home with their families. Parents become the biggest beneficiaries when they become successful, so parents must engage their children on whatever they are doing and guard them to make the right choices particularly in the area of education.”

She further called on parents to be involved in the selection of their children’s courses of study in school. She said parents must know their children’s purposes and help them select suitable courses in school.

Oheneyere Abena Konadu Acheampong advised beneficiary students to take advantage of the golden opportunity and secure a better future.

“I will urge parents and children who participated in this event to embrace this golden opportunity and support Nana with good intentions. It is time to make Asante Asaman a shining star, but we want to prepare them for the future of our community, so I want them to grab the opportunity and make good use of it.”
