Ogum Blames Fatigue For Heart of Lions Defeat
The head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum has attributed their 1-0 loss over the weekend to fatigue.
The Porcupines were defeated by Kpando Heart of Lions to mark their first home loss and their second loss in succession in the ongoing season on November 3, 2024, at the Lens Clay Stadium.
Kpando punished Kotoko for a defensive mistake inside 28 minutes to get the sole goal of the game through Kojo Obeng Junior.
In a post-match interview, Ogum said his boys exhibited exhaustion resulting from long travel hours across three regions in the last seven days.
“We looked very slow and tired on the field. I think the stress of the journey from Kumasi to Enyinase, is about nine hours. We played on Sunday, and travelled another ten hours or nine hours to Accra to play on Wednesday, which was on Monday.
“On Wednesday, we had to travel all the way to Kumasi so it’s been three games in seven days so you could see that they were tired. I don’t believe in giving excuses but it was so obvious. It was fatigue on our part.”
His side holds 15 points in 3rd place. Meanwhile, the win has propelled Bashir Hayford’s side to the seventh position with 14 points.
