Ofori Atta Successfully Undergoes Prostate Cancer Surgery- Wife

The wife of Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta has announced his successful procedure for prostate cancer.

In a statement, Prof. Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta said her husband had undergone a scheduled robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy on Friday, June 13th with the procedure taking more than four hours.

“The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime.”

She stated that her husband, who has been declared wanted and listed on the Interpol Red Notice, has always been resilient except for the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s development.

“This has been very difficult; with the OSP choosing the period just before his surgery to declare a red alert on him. Kenneth is bearing up well and focused on doing whatever he can to be restored to good health.”

Meanwhile, in an interview, Prof Ofori-Atta said her husband will show up in Ghana once he recovers after three months.

The OSP triggered processes to have Ofori Atta, extradited for investigation and prosecution. On June 2, 2025, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, announced the redeclaration of the former government official as a fugitive from justice.

It came after the former Finance Minister defaulted on their agreed timeline for his return to Ghana for investigations.

He is required to assist in investigations into five cases including Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited & GRA Contract; ECG and Beijing Technology Limited Contract Termination; National Cathedral Project; Procurement of Ambulances; and GRA’s Tax Refund Account Payments.
